About Lake Kelimutu in Indonesia





Lake Kelimutu is located in Ende (flores island), East Nusa Tenggara Province, Indonesia. This lake is part of mountain Kelimutu. There are interesting on this lake that is the color of the lake as much as 3 colors and is always changing every year (dark green, red and blue). By the Indonesian government, lake and mountain Kelimutu made the Kelimutu National Park.

There are several flora and fauna are protected in National Parks such as the event Anjang kode (Toona spp), Crater (Anthocephalus cadamba), Kesi (Canarium spp.), Kodal (Diospyros Ferra), Sita (Alstonis scholaris), kesambi (Schleichera oleosa), pine (Casuarina equisetifolia) and everlasting flower "Edelweiss". While the fauna on Flores National Park, among others, Deer (Cervus timorensis), Pig (Sus sp.), Forest Chicken (Gallus Gallus), Eagle (Elanus sp.), Srigunting (Dicrurus sulphurea) and others.
 
How to reach the site
We have to go the capital of  Ende regency before heading to Lake Kelimutu. There are several ways if we want to achieve Ende regency, by plane or by ship (PELNI). However, we advise you to use the planes because it is faster and cheaper than using ships. To achieve Ende by plane to through Denpasar, Bali province or Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara Province. Kupang to Ende (by plane) can spend 40 minutes.
If you've arrived at the capital of Ende regency, the journey continues to Lake Kelimutu (Kelimutu National Park is the nearest village is Village Park Koanara (Moni) about 93 km (± 3 hours)). You should rent a car because there is no public transport vehicles to get there.
